CAMP to Discuss Tariffs, Industry Issues at Spring Meetings

Members of the Campground Association for Management Professionals (C.A.M.P.) plan to meet in Washington, D.C. June 5 to discuss the impact of Canadian tariffs and other topics during the RV Industry Association’s “RVs Move America Week,” according to a press release. “State campground association directors are already going to be in Washington to meet with legislators during ‘RVs Move America Week.’ So, it makes sense for C.A.M.P. members to meet at that time as well and RVIA has been very welcoming,” said C.A.M.P. President Michael Moore. C.A.M.P. members will discuss current events, including the impact of Canadian tariffs on U.S. campgrounds and RV parks, as well as newly enhanced state association member benefits after OHI’s decision to move to a direct membership model rather than having state associations act as OHI’s dues collectors for campgrounds in those states. “Affiliated state association directors had been limited in what member benefits they could offer in the

State Associations Perform Critical Role as Advocates for Park Owners

Operating a park is no simple feat, and many park owners have invested their own finances and sweat equity into ensuring that the business is a success. With so much to do, it is no surprise that park owners have little time to ensure their businesses are being protected on the legislative side, too. “Legislators spend most of their days drafting and arguing bills without always realizing the domino effect their bills cause,” noted Mary Arlington, executive director of both the Colorado and South Dakota associations, as well as the newly formed River & Rockies Coalition. “They don’t know what it’s like to own and operate a campground, to rely on the entire tourism community, to understand the impact good highways can make on the business, to feel the pain of an insurance premium that just doubled or tripled due to strains on the national insurance industry, or to understand

The 2025 Campground Conference & Trade Show scheduled for March 3–5 in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., is heating up with the announcement of pre-conference excursions to local attractions, according to a press release. Conference planner Joann DelVescio invites attendees and industry suppliers to arrive for the conference a day early to join in on a behind-the-scenes tour of SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium and a thrilling ride on the Orlando Eye, two iconic attractions in the Orlando area. “We’re going to spend Sunday afternoon ahead of The Campground Conference having a little fun before we get serious about educating ourselves and doing business at the trade show,” she said. “It is a great way for old friends to catch up with each other and new attendees to meet people in a relaxed setting.” According to DelVescio, there are three excursion options based on interest in the aquarium, the Orlando Eye observation wheel or

Louisiana Hosts a Variety of Speakers & Vendors At ‘25 Conf.

The Louisiana Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (LARVC) hosted its annual state conference in late January at the Horseshoe Casino in Lake Charles, La. Jan. 27 was the official start of the conference with Ksquared making a second appearance with both Kayla Simon and Kayla Blanchard speaking. “Marketing Mastermind” was their topic this year. Mike Harrison, COO of CRR Hospitality, also presented virtually on Revenue Management – Enhancing Your Top & Bottom Lines. There were 11 vendor booths that were part of the conference’s trade show and the conference attracted a total of 45 people. “Although the conference was down from 2024, that did not stop the connections that were made and knowledge gained by our members,” noted LARVC officials. The night ended with a live auction and Bobby Sorden providing entertainment with a trivia game. Jan. 28 began with the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence. The general

Registration is now open for the Texas Association of Campground Owners’ annual Spring Meeting and Tradeshow, which will be April 29-30 at the Lone Star Convention & Expo Center in Conroe, Texas, according to a press release. Arizona Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds: 2024 State Legislative Update

The Arizona Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds (AZ ARVC) is watching out for your business. We have a lobbyist, Executive Director Susan Brenton, representing you at the state level. To date we have a total of 1,629 different bills which we have had to look at for the 2024 Arizona Legislative Regular Session which began last month. Of those, 1 bill has passed both the House of Representatives and the Senate and been signed by the Governor. Arizona requires a bill to pass both the House of Representatives and the Senate, and then be transmitted to the Governor who can either approve or veto it. If the Governor vetoes it, it must then go back and be passed by a 2/3 vote of both the House and Senate to become law (a 3/4 vote of the House and Senate if the bill contains an emergency clause). Bills that are
